The NUTS nomenclature serves as a reference for the collection, development and harmonization of European Union (EU) regional statistics and for socio-economic analyses of the regions. Representative sample selection for Turkey is made according to NUTS 2 level. At NUTS 2 level, 26 territorial units have been determined according to the sizes of population by regarding economic, social, cultural, geographical and other factors.
